BPI Canada Listed Materials & Products

To identify work that could improve the energy efficiency of your home, you need to decide where you would like to start.  Typically this work would be called "energy conservation measures" (ECMs).  For each ECM, you would then determine the appropriate material, product, material specification and the appropriate installation and application standard.

Based on the ECM's, BPI Canada identifies materials and product specification standards, installation standards and application standards that are applicable to improvement work being done on existing residential homes.

To be able to quickly identify what are the appropriate standards for the specific work, BPI Canada has grouped them together.

The most common EMC's fall under the general headings of:

Air leakage Control (Air Sealing)

Insulation

Doors and Windows

Siding and Cladding

Make sure that the contractor doing work for you, uses a material that has met the applicable standard and that they have obtained a material listing on the BPI Canada website.
